More Information
Join Ranger Kevin for an afternoon walk and enjoy the beauty of the Sonoran Desert. Enjoy a roughly 1-mile hike on the Spur Cross and Fairy Duster trails. Along the way, we’ll talk about the main reasons why the Sonoran Desert is the most biodiverse desert in North America (if not the world). We’ll look at some desert plants and learn about the adaptations they’ve made to survive here. And, of course, all the while we’ll be on the lookout for wildlife like mule deer, javelina, squirrels, rabbits, various species of birds and perhaps a reptile or two. Trail is rated easy, with little in the way but some loose rock, uneven terrain and elevation change. Please wear sturdy closed-toe shoes and bring plenty of water. Hats and sunscreen are also highly recommended. Restrooms are available near the trailhead. NO pets, please. MEETING LOCATION: Spur Cross Trailhead, near covered picnic tables Please note: Entry to Spur Cross Conservation Area is $3 per person. Cash only is accepted. If entry station is closed, please place your money in the payment box at the gate. No registration required.
Ticket Required: No
