Pollinator Patrol Monitoring Program

Join our Pollinator Patrol team to become a bee and butterfly citizen scientist for the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) Indian River Lagoon Aquatic Preserves (IRLAP)! Our team of citizen scientists conducts monthly monitoring of the FDEP Titusville Native Plant Pollinator Garden and adjacent lawn area in Titusville, FL. This research project compares pollinator use of a native plant landscape verses a traditional European lawn along the Indian River Lagoon. The data our citizen scientists collect is then used by the Indian River Lagoon Aquatic Preserves (IRLAP) team to spread awareness of the connection between land and the lagoon, and the positive impacts of lagoon-friendly landscaping! Volunteering for this opportunity is flexible, as monitoring occurs 1 day mid-month according to volunteer availability and weather.
