White dwarf supernovae (aka Type Ia supernovae) are some of the brightest explosions in the Universe that are born from the death of a sun-like star in a binary system. They are also one of astronomy’s most important tools, used to measure distances to faraway galaxies and to understand dark energy, the mysterious force driving the expansion of our Universe. But how much do we actually know about how these explosions form? Come find out with Nethra Rajavel, a PhD Candidate at the University of Alabama studying Astronomy!
