This month, University of Alabama graduate students Annelia Anderson and Peter Gwartney will presentThe Little Red Dot Debate.Following the launch of the James Webb Space Telescope in 2021, astronomers began to discover a plethora of strange and unexpected “little red dots” in the early universe, and have debatedwhatthese objects could be ever since. This talk will present the current theories, and debate the observational evidence supporting them. Though this debate will have no winner (yet), join us to tune in to the current status of a great mystery puzzling astronomers around the world.
