More Information

We are trying to get a better idea of how many bats are utilizing a massive bat house (we like to call the bat condo) throughout the late summer through early fall (April through November). We’re hoping to do this by getting volunteers out to monitor the condo in the evenings at least twice per month (possibly every week if we have the capacity to do so) and count how many bats are coming out of the condo. No bat identification skills are necessary, just the ability to quietly count how many bats are coming out of the condo. It won’t be an all-night commitment, just a few hours, starting about an hour before sunset and continuing until one hour after sunset or until it’s too dark to see emerging bats.

This is the second year of this project. We had tremendous success with volunteer contributions each week throughout the season in 2024. We hope to match or exceed these numbers this year!
