Join Ranger Derik on a history hike as the sun sinks below the horizon and paints the mountains pink and gold. As you hike you will learn about the native peoples that called the park home for thousands of years. The hike will cover roughly 3 miles on easy to moderate rocky/ sandy trail. You will walk through classic Sonoran desert landscape, explore mesquite forest and hike under towering Saguaro. We will make frequent stop to take about native foods, native medicines, view Native American rock art call Petroglyphs, and look at artifacts they left behind. Please bring water with you as there is no water in the park as well as a fully charged flashlight. Bathrooms can be found at the trailhead. MEETING LOCATION: Covered Picnic tables down the road from the contact station Limit 25 participants. To register, please call the Nature Center at 602-506-2930 ext.8 with your name, phone number, and number of people attending. If you find you cannot attend a program after you have registered, please call the Nature Center ASAP so we may contact those on the waiting list.
