More Information

Join Ranger Kevin for a one-of-a-kind Halloween hike. Why not take a break from scrounging the neighborhood for free candy and join us? This program is designed for kids and families of all ages. We’ll burn off some pre-candy calories on a one-mile walk on the Merkle trail. Participants are encouraged to come in costume and help us add the “haunted” to our Halloween hike. Just don’t expect the snakes and lizards (or Rangers) to cough up any candy; they’re on a strict desert diet. Please do have the kids wear closed-toe shoes, and bring along some water. Also, please check any costumes in advance to make sure they don’t drag on the ground or cause a tripping hazard. Trails is rated easy, with very little loose rock, uneven terrain and elevation change. Restrooms are available near the parking area. This program is for humans only, please leave the costumed pets at home. MEETING LOCATION: Merkle Trailhead Precise Meeting Location: https://maps.app.goo.gl/uhjc8paLspdAcZiX7 Limit 40 participants. To register, please call the Visitor Center at (602) 506-2930 ext. 4 with your name, phone number and number of people attending. If you find you cannot attend a program after you have registered, please call the Visitor Center ASAP so we may contact those on the waiting list. Registration for this program will close on 10/29.
