More Information

Join Ranger Derik on an evening hike through the park in search of scorpions and other native Sonoran Desert species. The hike will cover roughly 2 miles and gain about 150ft of elevation over the length of the hike. Expect loose and rocky sections on the trail. Hiking boots are encouraged and hiking poles can be helpful if you have balance difficulties. Please bring at least 1 flashlight with you and extra batteries or a portable charge. Phone lights are not sufficient for hiking at night. If you have blacklights feel free to bring them as it will make looking for scorpions easier! Water is available at the Nature Center but the closest open bathrooms can be found at the Slate Trailhead just past the Nature Center. MEETING LOCATION: Overton Trailhead Meeting Map Location: https://maps.app.goo.gl/KFYNcySB5F6Bjjw36 Limit 25 participants. To register, please call the Nature Center at 602-506-2930 ext.8 with your name, phone number, and number of people attending. If you find you cannot attend a program after you have registered, please call the Nature Center ASAP so we may contact those on the waiting list. Registration for this program will close on 5/21/2025.
