More Information

Students will design and construct current drifters, a tool used by scientists to study ocean currents. They’ll deploy a full-size drifter at the beach and track its movement via an app. Along the way, students will explore how nearshore currents shape barrier island dynamics and the role ocean currents play in distributing organisms, heat, energy, and materials throughout marine ecosystems.
