Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Morning Meander

Enjoy an early morning walk around the lake to watch for birds, lizards, snakes, and small animals with Ranger Olivia. Let’s see what sorts of wildlife we can spot. Birds should be active at this time and there’s not a bad chance for lizards and small animals too. Binoculars will make things easier, but a magnifying glass will help you find bugs and spiders which can be just as interesting! The route starts on a short portion of Pemberton Trail to connect onto Tortoise Trail for an out-and-back walk totaling 2 miles. The terrain is mostly level but there are a few spots that are uneven with small to medium rocks underfoot. Wear closed-toe shoes and bring plenty of water. Restrooms and water are available at the Trailhead. MEETING LOCATION: Trailhead Staging (South Pemberton trailhead) Limit 12 participants. If you find you cannot attend a program after you have registered, please call the Visitor Center ASAP so we may contact those on the waiting list.
